Ford Wins the Big 3 Cricket Tournament - again!!!
Yes - Ford Cricket Team makes it 3 in a row! Ford successfully defended its crown and made a hat-trick of triumphs in the Big3 Cricket Championship. The third year saw a change in the final opponents with GM qualifying at the expense of DCX and Altair to play against Ford. Ford comfortably won by 38 runs in the final.
MVP for the tournament was Gopi Rao and the Man of the Finals was John Jacob, both from the Ford Cricket team.
In the round-robin qualifying round which was a must-win situation for us, GM scored 80 runs in 20 overs. We lost 3 wickets for no runs in the very first over, making it an uphill task the rest of the way. But we ended up winning the game by scoring 81 for 7 in 19 overs. That put us in the final, again against GM.
In the final, we batted first and scored 107 runs in 20 overs. GM batted next - it was scary at first when they scored 21 for no loss in the fist 3 overs, but ultimately, we got them all out for 71 in 19 overs, winning easily. Ford is the champion for the 3rd year in a row.
Our management was represented by Paul Mascarenas, Nand Kochhar, Mike Harrison, Abe Vadhavkar, and Subhash Kelkar. The event was very well organized - wish there were more attendees! Next year, we need to make sure, we don't plan the Cricket Match on the same day as India Day.
